5 Years Strong! [Dec. 21st, 2009|11:47 pm]
[Current Location |My Room]
[mood |amusedamused]
[Tunes |Chris Murray - Science Fiction Double Feature]

Man, another year another year ending survey! It's nice to have made it this far.

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
I got into a car accident. I was fine, but the car was not. Lesson learned: People run red lights, and sometimes that hurts, haha. I also taught my first classes. How neat was that. And took grad school courses. Oh, and I went to a playoff game with my Dad! That was incredible.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I had any again, but I plan on riding my bike over 300 Miles this year. It's entirely doable.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, I had a friend get sick and she's still in the hospital, but thankfully no deaths.

5. What countries did you visit?
I visited the United States. It's lovely sometimes.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A teaching job.

7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Dec 1. It's the date I realized that love was much deeper than simple attraction.
Oct 19. My Dad and I went to out first playoff game and saw the Angels beat the Yankees in extra innings.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Graduating from college and starting grad school. (All A's so far in Grad school, too!)

9.What was your biggest failure?
Not finishing the GP album.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Some fractured toes, but they're okay now.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
PS3 Slim or a new laptop.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I don't see any standouts in particular.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled?
The Republican Party in the Senate.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Gas, Video games, random electronics, and recording.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I'm excited about starting life. It's been a slow start, but I should be teaching next year if I'm lucky.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2009?
The Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling (They played this at the ALCS game with the Angels and Yankees before the game and it was the best game I had even been to in my whole life)

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

- i. happier or sadder?
Quite Happy. I'm not sure how happy I was last year, but I'm enjoying life.

- ii. richer or poorer?
Much richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Dancing. I like dancing and I should do more of it.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Over-thinking everything.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Christmas Party and Cynthia and Eriques with family!

21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
Matty and Kory Squeegee again I'm sure.

22. What LJ users did you meet for the first time?
None, again(er).

23. How many one-night stands?
Hah, none.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Dexter and Battlestar Galactica.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nah. No hate flowing from this man.

26. What was the best book you read?
World War Z by Max Brooks.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
David Holmes

28. What did you want and get?
Good grades.

29. What did you want and not get?
A full-tiome teaching job.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Star Trek

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 25. I got the Die Hard Collection on Blu Ray and a game.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If Danielle hadn't gotten sick I would be in a better place. I spend a lot of time thinking about her and how much life has to suck for her. I really miss spending time with her and I hope she recovers soon. A girl like that needs to be out in the world making it a better place, not stuck in a hospital.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Maturing. Is it weird that I'd rather wear pants and a polo shirt than T-shirts and shorts? Growing up is weird.

34. What kept you sane?
Softball Saturdays and my bike.

34 b. What kept you from losing even more marbles?
Podcasts, Danielle, my friends.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hayden Panettiere, Katy Perry (only if she's wearing makeup, she's pretty wrecked without it),

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Health Care reform.

37. Who did you miss?
Haha, it's funny because it's so recent but my friend Danielle. She was the only reason I went to Faxon's and I miss having here cheery demeanor and bright smile greeting me every time I came into the warehouse.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Danielle, hands down. If I could, and she was interested I would marry that girl right now--no joke.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
Having faith in something isn't a bad thing.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"I've gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night." - Black Eyed Peas.

Shit is emotional up in here. [Apr. 22nd, 2009|10:49 pm]
[mood |depresseddepressed]

I really should stop torturing myself over girls.

Everything was going so fantastically great last week and it seemed like we were going to get together. Then... nothing. I can hardly get a word out of her. We're supposed to go out this Sunday but I have a feeling it wont go down. Maybe I'm making too big a deal of it, but years of self doubt can crush any confidence you had with ease.

I'm going to be honest with you, the more stuff like this happens, the more I hate myself for being a big fat guy. Nobody but myself is responsible for my weight and it bums me out that I know that it's stopped several girls from dating me. I'm working on making a change, but until then I'll continue torturing myself over the unattainable.

I'm really just tired of not haivng anyone to share my love and affection with that's willing to send some back my way.

Sorry for being so depressing, so I'll end this post with a bit of good news: I got my Bachleor's Degree in the mail today.

Oh Women... [Feb. 26th, 2009|04:42 pm]

[Tunes |Link 80 - Jeff Acree]

I'll never understand your kind.

You practically beg me to leave the studio to meet you at a show last week, which I was planning on doing all along. I'm greeted by hugs and smiles and everything is good. Unfortunately I can only stay for a few minutes before I unexpected get dragged back to "work" in the studio by the band. You walk me to my car, then we depart after a long hug and a promise to see each other soon if I don't make it back tonight. After I get to the studio I text you to let you know I'm not going to be able to make it out, it's greeted with a " :( " so I ask when you're available so we can hang out. You don't reply.

Rejection. Not a problem. It's not so bad. I figure it's easier than outright saying no, so it's not a problem. I don't call you or text you for almost a week when....

You call me today while I'm in class and I don't answer, so you leave me a message wondering when we're going to hang out. So I text you back asking if you were free Saturday... then you don't text or call back. Really? Come on... either you are or aren't interested.

Trying to understand women is like trying to learn Japanese.

Just like old times [Feb. 12th, 2009|09:53 pm]
[Current Location |My Room]
[mood |pensivepensive]
[Tunes |Catch 22 - Dripping Faucet]

Here I am, trying to write a paper and I decided to write in the ol' Livejournal. I feel bad for posting here because I've been in no way keeping up with my friend's page so I'm oblivious to what's been going on in everyone's lives here. My Apologies!!

But now onto the small update! I'm almost finished with school and working on decided what the hell I should do with my life! Scary!! There isn't a whole lot of anything out there for someone with a BA in History and there are no teaching jobs unless you want to teach special education, so I may be entering into that field.

Speaking of fields, you're probably wondering what's going on in Anthony's love life? Surely he's pining after some girl, most likely from Orange County and nothing's come of it except maybe a couple of hints on both ends? Well... sadly, you're right!! I'm really working on this one, but I thikn she might be a little young for me. I have to realize I'm 24 so maybe dating 19 year olds is probably creepy and wont work out so well. It certainly looks that way written out here, doesn't it? It's scraping the bottom end of the 1/2 your age + 7 rule of creepiness, so I think I may have to stop meeting girls at ska shows becuase they don't seem to come around at my age anymore, haha.

Other than that, I'm still spending too much money on the band and still working for peanuts at the place I've been for the past four years. It's time for a change methinks. After I graduate it's time to seriously take a look at my life and decide which direction I want to set sail. Should I continue to persue teaching knowing that it's nigh impossible for a history teacher to get a job? Should I enroll in the special education teaching intership program and commit to the next two years of my life going to CSUSB and probably living in Riverside? Should I try to find a decent entry level office job and move to Orange County, a place I've wanted to live since I was a teenager? Should I have dropped my dream to become a profession game journalist in light of the closure of EGM and the seeming narrowing of the job field and possible relevance of the hardcore gamaing industry press? All good questions I'm afraid I have no solid answer to.

Wow, this wasn't supposed to get so deep! Oh well, old habits die hard I suppose.

Time to work on that papeer, eh?

Peace

I've already written two papers today and it's not even 4PM! Neat! I only have 3 more to write by thursday morning!!

But funny thing is that in this last paper I wrote about Napoleon and totally started the paper with an anecdote about Bill and Ted's excellent adventure! I wish we could turn in papers with pictures.. it would make them so much more fun to write.

Long Time.. [May. 14th, 2008|01:21 am]
[Current Location |Home Base]
[mood |busybusy]
[Tunes |Less than Jake - Nervous in The Alley]

So yeah. there's been some good stuff going on since I last posted a week ago. Let's recap!

Kids in the Hall with Julia was awesome. That was probably the funniest thing I have ever seen live and it makes me want to go see more comedy acts in the near future.

I had midterms last week and did decently on them. Dr Blackey lived up to my expectations and gave me the "C/C+" grade I have gotten on everything I've turned into him in the three previous classes I took with him. No matter what I do on tests and papers I always get the same grade, no matter the quality. It can be complete garbage and I'll get C/C+ and it can be great and I'll get C/C+. I almost want to stop trying. My PSCI midterm was decent... i messed up pretty bad but escaped with a "B."

In my Hist 142 class I started talking to this cool.. she's pretty cute and seems cool. She's a history major too, but she's a year older than me and a year behind me. That scares me.. I would try asking her out for coffee or something, but dating older girls isn't my scene.. but I guess she hasn't graduated either so she's rocking the behind the flow thing too. But we've been talking before and after class and walking each other out to the parking lot. But yeah, that's it. We had a midterm today so we couldn't sit by each other since this old lady took my seat, but I sat close by and we talked it up instead of studying.. haha. And i finished early so I walked myself out to my new car...

WAIT!

NEW CAR?

WTF?

That's right. I got a a "new" car this weekend.

As you all probably know I'm a baby and live at home rent free and drive my parents' cars. I only have to pay for maintenance, gas and my school. My food at home, phone bill and insurance is all taken care of. I'm very lucky and somewhat spoiled. I can appreciate all that my parents have done for me, and love the fact that I could drive a 2000 Excursion, 2007 Edge and 2003 Taurus all free of charge, but my mom bought a '96 Pontiac Grand Prix coupe in a divorce sale from a friend of a friend and it is officially mine.

It's cool actually owning a car.. it' sin pretty good shape with no body damage and only a little paint wear on the spoiler, but it's all good! It's totally a college car with the minor problems and the 191,000+ miles on it, haha.

Also, we played a show in whittier, but it was rather uneventful so i wont bore you with details.

The weekend ended with me seeing Iron man Sat night with Jessica, Alysia, Danielle and Jeffo, followed by Mother's Day with Pizza and 30 Days of Night and Cloverfield watching with my dad. We use sunday movie watching as bonding time and i'll totally sit through a bad movie with him (30 dyas of night was whack!) just to hang out with him and talk since he doesn't come home more than 3 times a month and mostly only twice.

but cloverfield.. I love it!

I'm going to be picking it up on Blu Ray and I spent the past two days researching the backstory and watching the viral stuff in between GTA rounds (i finally beat it two weeks later!). I really want to see a sequel that is different than the first film. I want this one to start in the aftermath, then explain how the monster came to be or awaken, and I want the whole tagaruto and slusho deal to be incorporated as well as scenes with the moster destorying NY. But yeah.. I'm looking forward to seeing what JJ Abrams does with the new Star Trek movie.. i hope it rocks!!

Alright.. I'm Done.
